Building the Aerobic Base Firefighter Testing Demands
Why most candidates fail loaded events on conditioning rather than strength, and a twelve-week structure to fix it.

The load makes everything aerobic
Wearing weighted gear turns moderate tasks into high heart-rate work. Candidates rarely fail because a single event was too heavy; they fail because they arrived at event five already redlined.
Twelve weeks, three blocks
Weeks one to four: easy conversational-pace volume, four sessions per week, building duration only. Weeks five to eight: add weighted stair intervals and hill work twice weekly. Weeks nine to twelve: rehearse full event sequences with rest periods that shrink week by week.
Retest the same benchmark every four weeks so progress is measured, not assumed.
