A Twelve-Week Firefighter Preparation Plan

How to combine aptitude practice, physical training and interview work into one schedule without any of the three collapsing.

Three tracks, one calendar

Run cognitive practice, physical training and interview preparation in parallel at different intensities rather than sequentially. Sequential preparation means two of the three are always decaying.

A workable split: four physical sessions, three short test sessions of twenty to thirty minutes, and one interview rehearsal per week.

Reassess every four weeks

Retest per-category accuracy and your physical benchmarks on a fixed schedule. Move the next block's emphasis toward whichever track moved the least.

Protect the taper

The final ten days before any test day are for sharpening and rest. No new material, no maximum-effort sessions, and a full rehearsal of the logistics of test day itself.

Turn reading into readiness

Knowing the process is step one. Find out where you actually stand with a readiness check.
