Requirements to be verifiedRecruitment watch
Application packages are due 27 September 2026 at 11:59 PM and testing must be completed before 28 September. Two things disqualify candidates here more than anything else. First, packages must be handed in IN PERSON on a test date or sent by mail - emailed packages are not accepted. Second, if you are registered for the Emotional Stability and Resiliency assessment you must complete it by 4 PM on the Friday before your appointment, and candidates testing on 19 or 20 September had to finish it by 11 September; missing that deadline means you are not permitted to test and are disqualified outright. A $40 application processing fee applies and all other costs are yours. Criminal record and vulnerable sector checks are required. NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator and prior experience in suppression, trades, construction or EMS are listed as assets.

Yes. CPAT is part of the Firefighter Services of Ontario screening for this recruitment. Watch the ESR assessment deadline too: if it is not done by 4 PM the Friday before your appointment you are not allowed to test at all.
Most successful candidates prepare for one to three years before a conditional offer. Being test-ready and fitness-ready before a posting opens matters more than intense preparation after it opens.
